Military Market: What does a name change have to do with the US government’s SAM?
The White Bear Lake branch of Sensata has migrated to the new US government’s System for Award Management (SAM’s) and our status is ACTIVE. The previous two systems, CCR and OCRA have been replaced by the new IBM designed SAM going forward. What made our move to SAM more interesting was our “in process” status in both of the previous US government systems for our “novation” or business name change from Sensata Technologies Maryland, Inc. to Sensata Technologies Massachusetts, Inc.
We have had experience in the name change process in the last couple of years from our earlier name changes that started with our locations original corporate name of Dimensions Unlimited, Inc. which sold the Dimensions brand of inverters. Our corporate name was then changed to Airpax Dimensions (previous cage code OCCB0) after we were purchased by Airpax Corporation. One year after that purchase we were part of the sale to Sensata which then we changed our name to Sensata Technologies Maryland, Inc.
So not only did this recent change to the SAM software system include all of the normal technical issues involved with a computer software change, it had the added requirement for us to move to our final business name, Sensata Technologies Massachusetts, Inc. This data all had to coincide with changes with our D&B and tax records as well. With support from both internal Sensata resources, government resources and a large dose of persistence we emerged as “active” in the new SAM system. Our cage code, 55YR1, stayed the same, along with our focus on FSC code, 6130, SIC 3629, and NAICC code 335999.
Thank you to our customers who have been patient during this business name change experience.
