Connecting the Magnum Energy advanced feature remote control, the ME-ARC, to other Magnum products unlocks even more features and options across your entire power system. This episode of the Magnum video series is designed to help guide you through the screens of the ME-ARC revision 4.0 in order to setup your Magnum Energy Battery Monitor Kit (ME-BMK), which will allow you to program your system based on state of charge. Other revisions may show slightly different screens, but this video should get you through the basics of programming. Please note that this video is not meant to go over every possible scenario, but rather give you an idea of how to program your system for your particular setup. Please refer to your owner’s manual for more in-depth information.
Pressing the Setup button and scrolling to 05 BMK Setup will take you to the two basic BMK options:
- 05A Charge Efficiency. This option tells the BMK how efficient your batteries are. Batteries are not 100% efficient, so if you take out 100AH, you’ll likely have to put in closer to 110AH to replenish them. This is important when trying to figure out your State of Charge. By default, this setting is Auto, which means the BMK will automatically try to determine the efficiency of your batteries. As batteries age, this number changes, so it is generally recommended to keep this setting at Auto. If you know your battery’s efficiency, you can adjust it here by turning the select knob anywhere from 50% all the way up to 99%.
- 05B AmpHour Size. This is the amount of Amp Hours you have in your entire bank. This setting can be adjusted to be anywhere from 200AH to 2500AH.
To return to the main screen, press the Meter button. Now the BMK can properly indicate to your system the state of charge of your battery bank.
