Mobile Inverter Chargers

Sensata is introducing three new models of HYBRID inverter/chargers. Based on the popular MS Series pure sine wave inverter/charger, the new MSH models add a “Load Support” feature. Load Support allows incoming AC to synchronize with the inverter’s output and uses additional power from the batteries to power loads.

Interconnection System Equipment

The Magnum Panels (MP) are part of a new line of enclosures from Magnum Energy that standardize inverter installations and allow for the ability to expand the inverter system in the future. Specifically designed for multiple inverter applications, the MP enclosures ensure safety and reliability by combining all of the major components required for a renewable energy system — inverter/ battery disconnect, AC overcurrent protection, grounding connections, and a full-system bypass switch — into an easy to install pre-wired enclosure. The modular design of the MP enclosure with the Magnum Energy inverter allows it to be UPS shipped and easily assembled on site. Installing an inverter system is now as simple as mounting the MP enclosure, installing the inverters, connecting the battery bank, and if needed, bringing in AC power from a generator or the utility grid.

Installation Cable Kits

Inverters have two or three sets of power carrying wires to be concerned about: the wires from the battery to the inverter, the wires from the inverter to the home (or other load), and in some cases the wiring from a backup generator or other AC source. The wire or cables from the batteries to the inverter are much more critical, and are often undersized. In some cases, the cable may be large enough to carry the “static” load of a motor, but on start up will drop so much voltage in the cable that the inverter will shut down. The same thing can happen with small inverters and TV sets – a TV may only use 100 watts, but the start up surge may be 300 watts for a few seconds. Wire lengths from the battery should always be kept as short as possible, but not so tight that there is a strain on the connections.
